Do i have ED??

Postby nick1970 on Tue May 05, 2009 1:56 pm

Hi

Ive been with my partner about a year now, things are generally good, apart from in the bedroom.

This weekend for the second time in a few months i wasnt able to get hard enough for sex with her on top, i do find her attractive but- when she tried to slide me inside her it didnt happen (penis 'bent') , i went completely soft in the embarrasment - and ended up switching to giving her oral and then having sex in the missionary position once i was hard again. Im always hard enough for sex on top, but never like 'granite' as i used to be.

I get erections all the time, simply from a slow kiss, but they simply arent as hard as they used to be- do i have a medical condition perhaps?.

Our sex life is still good, i know her body well after a year and we are both considerate, but this is making me want to avoid sex and taking away a lot of the natural flow for me.

So since this first happened we have gone from making love just about every morning and night, to once or twice a week- my partner doesnt say anything but i know it must be fustrating for her as well. She is still as generous as ever (and will give me oral out of the blue quite often) but she must notice our love life is less now.

Im 39, in reasonable health but not as active as i used to be (i used to play rugby and run regularly).

So is this ED? im a bit confused as to wether this is age, or a medical problem.

Maybe an expert or doctor can give you better advice on it however after reading your post, I decided to share my story. I am 29 and I've been having severe premature ejaculation problems since I was 26, now it has gone so bad that I cannot even maintain an erection enough for penetration during sex. This is highly frustrating as you can guess. Now it is quite weird that I can maintain a satisfactory erection during oral sex but otherwise it is so bad I can't even explain. My sexual encounters with my partner proved to be failures and it had been so bad that I couldn't even enter her. Quite contrary to your partner, who seems very considerate, mine was not even supportive and that is why I can say my condition actually contributed to our breakup. I know about some of the ED drugs but still don't know if they are going to work for me or not. Just waiting for some answers here basically.

Hello Nick

Sorry to hear about your condition. Now if you recently have had a medical check up and you know you are not diabetic, smoker or on any medication, the best course of action then would be to see your GP first of all. You may want to see a urologist as well. Erectile dysfunction can sometimes have multi factorial causes and remember there is a psychological component involved as well. The symptoms you have stated indicate a possibility of erectile dysfunction. If there is nothing serious about your health, you can start taking lose dose of erectile dysfunction medication to see how it works for you. Remember your first point of contact should be your GP. Discuss it with your GP and lets see what you find out.
